Hello dear students as you all know SSC CGL exam 2018 date is coming near and you are working very hard to crack the exam. So it’s very urgent for you to have a knowledge regarding the syllabus and patter of the exam. So here in this article we are providing you the syllabus for the SSC CGL 2018 exam pattern and syllabus, which is surely going to help you in your preparation regarding the exam and will help you in focusing on particular subjects. 
SSC CGL EXAM 2018 is going to be held in different four tiers. These are as follows:

Major Key points to remember about SSC CGL Exam 2018
1. Tier1 and Tier2 of SSC CGL EXAM 2018 will be conducted online.
2. There is no provision of Sectional Cut off 
3.  Interview section has been withdrawal from the SSC CGL EXAM 2018. Therefore no interview is there.
4. The Skill Test will be of qualifying nature. 
 5. The final merit will be prepared on the basis of overall performance in Tier-I, Tier-II, and Tier-III, but the participants have to qualify all the tiers i.e. Tier-I, Tier-II and Tier-lll individually.

As we already had discussed that there are four ties in SSC CGL EXAM 2018 and the syllabus for each of the ties is also different. So you have to prepare for each of the section separately according to the syllabus. The detail of the syllabus of tier 1 is given below:
                                                                
SSC CGL Exam 2018 Tier 1 Pattern
This tier will be CBE (computer-based examination) means there will be online test. There are 4 segments in the Tier 1 exam of SSC CGL 2018, each section has 25 questions of 50 marks each, so there are total 100 questions which account for a total of 200 marks. The segment-wise details are given below:

IMPORTANT NOTE: There is a negative marking of 0.5 marks in all segments.
For the candidates who are visually disabled, the duration of the exam will be 80 minutes.
 The description of the syllabus of each of the segment is given below:

SSC CGL EXAM TIER-1 SYLLABUS 2018
1. General Intelligence and Reasoning
This segment will take account of questions of both verbal and non-verbal type. The segment will have the questions based on Symbolic operations, Symbolic/Number Analogy, Figural Analogy, Blood Relations, Series Problems, Direction based questions, Venn Diagrams, Symbolic/Number Classification, Drawing inferences, Figural Classification, Punched hole/pattern-folding & unfolding Figural Pattern – folding and completion, Number Series, Embedded figures, Figural Series,  Coding and decoding, Numerical operations.
You need to focus on the high- frequency type questions which will help you in getting better score. You have to focus on the few important topics of Reasoning because from these topics maximum of the questions are asked. These topics should be on your finger tips if you want to crack the exam. These are:
"5 questions from Figures including matrix, 2 questions of alpha-numeric series, 3 questions from analogy, 3 odd one out questions, 1 question blood relation,1 question rank. 2 questions mathematical operation,1 question direction sense, etc. These are few topics which can help you in attempting most of the questions and to get a better score.

2. General Awareness
In GA section, every year there is a repetition of 3-4 questions by SSC, so definitely go through previous years question papers. Refer only selected topics and do not waste much time for this section. Focus mainly on preferred topics which are Polity, economics and modern history.
Most of the time two or three Current affair questions are asked in GA section of SSC CGL Tier 1 EXAM. Just go through a newspaper regularly is a key point for all the competitive exams in India. There is no other better thing for exams than a standard English newspaper daily.
In general awareness section thoroughly read
Science (Study science laws, formulae, and application of it in physics and chemistry, life sciences)
History (the advent of the Europeans to India to the independence of India, read modern history (Viceroy Tenures, important sessions of Congress, important dates, the question from Gandhian phase etc.).
Polity (preamble, important articles, and schedules, Governors, Judges of the Supreme Court and high courts and their duties)
Geography (Soil, Monsoon, Indian River System, Physical Division of India)
Miscellaneous: Questions related to static GK, The first, the highest, the longest In India, Important monuments of India, important peak, and rivers of the world. 

3. Quantitative Aptitude
QA is the most important part of the SSC CGL exam because questions are asked every year from this section, minimum 5 to 6 questions are always asked for sure.  To get the best score from this section you have to go through the topics which are:

a. Geometry/Mensuration
For Geometry, you need to remember all the important theorems, Pythagoras triplet, all the formulas of the area of triangle and circle.
For Mensuration you have to focus on Prism, Pyramid, Sphere, and Tetrahedron. You have to learn Formulas like curved surface area, total surface area and volume.

b. Algebra/Trigonometry/Height and Distance
Algebra includes basic formulas of cube and squares and trigonometric ratios and identities.

c. Ratio/Percentage/profit, loss and Discount
 Percentage and ratio are foundation of the chapters like profit, loss and Discount. Profit, loss and discount based on 4 terms and that are C.P, S.P, M.P and Discount. Focus on the CP, SP, MP and discount given on MP and relation between them.

d. Time speed and distance/Train/Boats and Stream
Inverse and direct relation between time , speed and distance are the roots for solving such type of questions. The knowledge of relative velocity will help you in solving questions related to train, Boat and Stream. Gun and Bullet problem, Train accident problem, Effect of increasing/decreasing speed on time, these problems are usually asked in the examination.

e. Time and Work/pipes and Cistern
LCM method will help you in solving time and work questions. The concept of alternate work, efficiency, work and wages are vital points to be focused on.

f. S.I. & C.
Basic and direct questions are asked from this section.

g. Number System, Surds & Indices, Simplification
 Unit digits, number of zeroes, LCM/HCF, simplification of surds & indices are important topics in this.

h. DI
It may be in the form of pie chart or bar graph.

 4. English Language and Comprehension
This section is mainly designed to test the candidate’s ability to understand, comprehend and to read English language. Questions in this segment will be based on spot the error, fill in the blanks, synonyms, antonyms, spelling/detecting misspelled words, idioms & phrases, one word substitution, improvement of sentences, active/passive voice of verbs, conversion into direct/indirect narration, shuffling of sentence parts, shuffling of sentences in a passage, cloze passage & comprehension passage.

This tier is CBE (computer based examination) means it will be conducted online. This tier contains of 4 sections which are given below:

SSC CGL Tier 3 Exam Syllabus  2018
The main reason of conducting this tier is to test the written skills of the candidates in English and Hindi language. The pattern of this exam is (DES) descriptive and is conducted offline that means Candidates have to write Essay/Letter/Application.  For this you should have a knowledge regarding the pattern of Letter and application writing. To boost your written skills  read newspaper articles ,understand, conclude and comprehend the articles in your own way.

Important Points:
The time duration is 60 minutes and carries 100 marks.
The exam duration is 80 minutes for candidates who are visually disabled or suffer from cerebral palsy.
