Usually 14 – 15 questions can be given from this topic in bank exam or other competitive exams as well. It can be
easy topic if you have right tricks to find out logic by which the puzzle will
be solved. Here we are providing important reasoning tips and example which are asked in SBI,

This section of analytical
reasoning comprises of questions put in the form of logic puzzles involving
certain number of items, be it persons or things. The candidate is required to
analyze the given information, condense it in a suitable form and answer the
questions asked.
The
questions on Reasoning logic puzzle test may be any of the following types:
i.
Classification Type questions
ii.
Seating/Placing Arrangements
iii.
Comparison type questions
iv.
Sequential order of Things
v.
Selection based on given Conditions
vi.
Family-based problems
vii.

SEATING/PLACING
CIRCULAR ARRANGEMENTS PUZZLE QUESTION:
In this type of logic puzzles
questions, some clues regarding seating or placing sequence (linear or circular)
of some persons or items are given. The candidate is required to form the
proper sequence using these clues and answer the given questions accordingly.
EXAMPLE:
Read the following information
carefully to answer the questions given below:
Nine cricket fans are watching a
match in a stadium. Seated in one row, they are J, K, L, M, N, O, P, Q and R. L
is at the right of M and at third place at the right of N. K is at one end of
the row. Q is seated adjacent to both O and P. O is at the third place at the
left of K. J is right next to left of O.
1.
Who is sitting at the centre of the row?
a.
I
b.
J
c.
O
d.
Q
e.
None of these
2.
Who is at the other end of the row?
a.
J
b.
N
c.
P
d.
R
e.
None of these
3.
Which of the following statements is true?
a.
N is two seats away from J.
b.
M is at one person between L and O.
c.
R and P are neighbours.
d.
There is one person between L and O.
e.
None of these
SOLUTION:
L is at the right of M and at
third place at the right of N. So, the sequence becomes:
N _ M L.
O is at third place at the left
of K and J is right next to left of O i.e. J O _ _ K.
Q is adjacent to both O and P
i.e. J O Q P K. Thus, the only black space left must be occupied by R i.e. N R
M L.
Since K is at one end of the row,
so the entire seating sequence becomes: N R M L J O Q P K.

M

ANSWERS:
1.
J is seating at the centre of the row. So, the answer is (b).
2.
N is at the other end of the row. So, the answer is (b).
3.
Clearly, there is one person J between L and O.
So, only (d) is true.
Hence, the answer is (d).
EXAMPLE:
Six persons A, B, C, D, E and F
are sitting around a round table facing towards the centre of the table in a
restaurant. They have ordered for different items (Pizza, Strawberry, Vanilla,
Burger, Pastries and Patties) as their lunch. They are wearing shirts of
different colors i.e. white, black, green, red, yellow and blue. Order of items
for the lunch and colors of shirts are not necessarily according to the order
of their names.
1.
The persons who have ordered for pizza, vanilla, and pastries are
neither in a white shirt nor in black.
2.
The persons who are in green and yellow shirts have neither
ordered for pizza nor for vanilla.
3.
A is neither in a white shirt nor on the immediate left of the person who has ordered for Burger.
4.
The only person who is between E and R eats strawberry. The person
who is on the left side of the person in white shirt does not eat patties.
5.
D has ordered for Burger and the color of his shirt is green. He
is facing the person who has ordered for pastries.
6.
One who has ordered for pizza is seated opposite to the person
wearing blue shirt, while the person whose shirt is of green color is on the
left of the person who has ordered for pastries.
7.
One who has ordered for patties is one the immediate right of the person in a white shirt but on the immediate left of the person who has ordered
for Vanilla.
8.
C has not ordered for vanilla while F has not ordered for pizza.
QUESTIONS:
1.
Who among the following is in white shirt?
a.
A
b.
B
c.
C
d.
E
e.
D
2.
The only person, who is between E and D, is wearing shirt of the
color.
a.
Red
b.
Blue
c.
Black
d.
Yellow
e.
None of these
3.
Who among the following has ordered for pastries?
a.
A
b.
B
c.
C
d.
E
e.
None of these
4.
Which of the following is correctly matched?
a.
A – yellow – burger
b.
B – Red – vanilla
c.
E – red – pizza
d.
F – black – pastries
e.
None of these
5.
The color of the short of the person, who has ordered for patties
, is
a.
Red
b.
Yellow
c.
Blue
d.
Black
e.
None of these
SOLUTION:
D orders for burger and wears
green shirt. The person opposite to D orders for strawberry. Now, the persons wearing
white and black do not order for pizza, vanilla, pastries or burger. So, they
order for Strawberry or patties. But one who orders for patties is on the
immediate right of the person in white shirt. So, the person wearing white
orders for strawberry while the person who orders for patties wears black and
is seated to the right of the person in white shirt.
Now, the person who orders for
patties is on the immediate left of the person who orders for vanilla. Clearly,
the person to the left of the person in white, orders for pizza. But he is
opposite to the person wearing blue shirt. So, the person who orders for
vanilla, wears blue shirt doesn’t order for Pizza. So, he wears red. Thus, the
person who orders for Pastries wears yellow shirt.
The person who likes strawberry
is the only person between E and F. But F does not like Pizza. So, E orders for
Pizza and wears red shirt. Now A neither wears white nor sits to the immediate
left of D. So, A orders for Pastries and wears yellow shirt. C does not order
for Vanilla. So, C orders for Strawberry and wears white shirt. Thus, B orders
for Vanilla and wears blue shirt.
ANSWERS:
1.
C wears a white shirt. So, the answer is (c).
2.
A is between E and D, and A wears yellow shirt. So, the answer is
(d).
3.
A orders for Pastries. So, the answer is (a).
4.
The correct combination is E – Red – Pizza. So, the answer is (c).
5.
F orders for Patties and wears black shirt. So, the answer is (d).
